FUGAWI BRINGS FREE CHARTS TO THE GARMIN IQUE

Fugawi software now runs on the Garmin iQue

TORONTO — Fugawi™ Marine ENC can now be used to transfer rasterized charts to the Garmin iQue™ 3600, Garmin iQue™ M5, or other Palm or Pocket PC handheld computers. This includes the new free-of-charge and highly detailed NOAA ENC® charts (Electronic Navigation Charts).

Compatible chart types include:

• NOAA ENC vector nautical charts (S-57 format) of US coastal waters
• IENC vector nautical charts (S-57 format) of US inland waterways, published by the US Army Corps of Engineers.
• Raster nautical charts such as NOAA RNC, MAPTECH™, NDI Digital Ocean® (BSB) and SoftChart
• Land maps such as Fugawi Digital Maps, MAPTECH, USGS DRG maps and many others
• User scanned paper maps or any map file in bmp, gif, jpg, pcx, or tif format

Fugawi Marine ENC works on a PC or laptop and, when connected to a GPS, allows boaters to navigate in real-time, providing features such as moving map navigation using industry standard charts; easy “point-and-click” route creation; and GPS upload and download of waypoints, routes, and tracks.

Fugawi Marine ENC is the only marine package to come standard with software for Windows as well as Pocket PC and Palm OS (now including the Garmin iQue 3600) handheld devices.

Fugawi Marine ENC also supports the free-of-charge NOAA ENC vector-based coastal and harbor charts of US waters. Developed by the Office of Coast Survey and NOAA, and now numbering over 450, the catalog of these harbor and coastal charts is continually growing, and better yet, the data and subsequent updates are available free-of-charge from: http://nauticalcharts.noaa.gov/mcd/enc/index.htm. Charts at this location are updated for Notice to Mariners on at least a monthly basis.

Inland-Waterway Electronic Navigation Charts (IENC) of US waters are being developed by the US Army Corps of Engineers and are also free-of-charge, available from: http://www.tec.army.mil/echarts/inlandnav/index.html
