Two significant enhancements for added safety and flexibility on the water have been added: embedded chartplotter compatibility and advanced AIS functionality.

With Marine ENC version 4.5, Fugawi has effectively bridged the gap between PCs and embedded chartplotters by extending the power and capabilities of its Navionics chart compatibility. Ideal for boaters who require ultimate flexibility when planning excursions or during real-time navigation, Fugawi Marine ENC is the only product available that allows seamless upload and download of routes and waypoints to Navionics compatible chartplotters, as well as hand held GPS receivers, available from Raymarine, Humminbird, Northstar, Garmin, Magellan, Lowrance, Eagle and more. This flexible, cost-effective solution allows navigators to plan trips and manage waypoints on a home or office PC, at a PC or chartplotter at the boat’s helm, or on a backup PC below deck. The ultimate in flexibility, navigation data can be stored directly on CF, SD and MMC cards for easy transfer between chartplotters and PCs, eliminating the need to have a physical serial cable connection between the PC and chartplotter.

The new Fugawi Marine ENC also offers greatly enhanced Automatic Identification System (AIS) integration. Valuable new features include CPA and TCPA calculation, an improved graphic display of AIS targets making it easy to determine which vessels pose a collision threat, the ability to click on a vessel for expanded AIS information and true scale vessel silhouettes. In addition, Fugawi has added support for the recently approved AIS Class B standard, in addition to the existing Class A standard. Due to the problems that can arise due to limited AIS bandwidth and less frequent Class B position updates, Fugawi performs dead reckoning of targets and curved course prediction based on rate of turn between active position updates.
