FUGAWI MARINE ENC™ PROVIDING GOOGLE™ EARTH SUPPORT

Google Earth Images Provide Boaters with Realistic View of Surroundings

TORONTO, Canada – Northport Systems, Inc., a leader in GPS mapping software and innovative GPS applications, announced today the official release of the innovative Fugawi GoogleTM Earth Plug-in for its popular Fugawi Marine ENCTM product. The new Plug-in allows boaters to view their current GPS location on geo-referenced Google Earth images next to actual charts in split-screen mode. This combination of detailed cartography and high-resolution aerial photography provides boaters better visual awareness, enhanced charting information and added peace of mind while boating.

When connected to the internet, the Fugawi Google Earth Plug-in will automatically download Google Earth maps of a boater’s current location for split screen viewing in Fugawi Marine ENC, enabling users to display their GPS position on the Google Earth map. Users can also overlay Fugawi supported third-party maps and charts on top of Google Earth imagery and adjust layer transparency, as well as transfer non-copyright protected maps for permanent use in Google Earth. Google Earth images of regularly traveled or planned routes can also be saved for later display when internet connectivity is not available.

Availability:
The Fugawi Google Earth Plug-in for Fugawi Marine ENC software is not part of the commercial Fugawi package, rather it is provided free of charge as an optional Plug-in to users of Fugawi Marine ENC version 4.5 for evaluation, experimental and special interest purposes.
