FUGAWI SOFTWARE ADDS NEW GERMAN DISTRIBUTOR

Nordwest-Funk to Distribute Premium Fugawi Marine ENC Software

TORONTO, Canada – Fugawi Software (Northport Systems Inc.) announced today the addition of Nordwest-Funk GmbH to its growing international distribution network. Effective immediately, Nordwest-Funk will distribute and provide both marketing and technical support for Fugawi Marine ENC software for the German marine electronics dealer network.

Fugawi Marine ENC is ideal for boaters who require ultimate flexibility when planning excursions or during real-time navigation. The software allows seamless upload and download of routes and waypoints to Navionics compatible chart plotters and handheld GPS receivers, available from Humminbird, Lowrance, Magellan, Northstar, Raymarine, Furuno, Garmin and others. In addition to existing support for S-57, BSB, and NV format charts, Fugawi Marine ENC offers compatibility with the full line of Navionics Gold, Platinum and Platinum Plus charts. This allows boaters to use a PC at the helm or below deck for planning, navigating and monitoring their passage using the identical, industry-leading cartography that they have installed in their Navionics supported chart plotter.

With Fugawi Marine ENC’s support for Google Earth, via a free plug-in, boaters can view their current GPS location on geo-referenced Google Earth images next to actual charts in split-screen mode. This combination of detailed cartography and high-resolution aerial photography offers boaters better visual awareness, enhanced charting information and added peace of mind while boating.

To ensure added safety at sea, Fugawi Marine ENC provides enhanced Automatic Identification System (AIS) integration. Valuable features include Closest Point of Approach (CPA) and Time to Closest Point of Approach (TCPA) calculation, an improved graphic display of AIS targets making it easier to determine which vessels pose a collision threat, the ability to click on a vessel for expanded AIS information and true scale vessel silhouettes. Fugawi performs dead reckoning of targets and curved course prediction based on rate of turn between active position updates.
