X-TRAVERSE DEBUTS SUPPORT FOR CANADIAN TORONTO, Canada – Software manufacturer Northport Systems Inc. announced today that, through a license agreement with Canadian Hydrographic Service (CHS), Canadian Hydrographic Service Digital Charts are being added to its popular Fugawi™ X-Traverse online map collection for use with iNavX™ marine software for the Apple iPhone™, Fugawi Global Navigator and Fugawi Marine ENC software for PC, and GPSNavX and MacENC™ software for Mac OS X. Canadian Hydrographic Service Digital Charts are raster charts produced by the CHS and are available from X-Traverse in a proprietary format for use with X-Traverse compatible software. Adding to its support for a wide variety of charts including Navionics® Gold+ international marine, HotMaps® Premium USA fishing lakes, Swedish Marine, TRAK maps and more, users of Fugawi X-Traverse supported software now have subscription-based, fingertip access to nautical navigation charts of the Canadian coastline and waterways. When used with the iNavX App, the charts are downloaded through the iPhone’s internet connection (Edge, 3G or WiFi) and saved locally on the phone for use when outside of cell phone or WiFi internet coverage. When using compatible PC or Mac software, the charts are also downloaded directly to the computer hard drive for use when an internet connection is not available. Fugawi X-Traverse also allows users to plot waypoints in compatible PC or Mac software and transfer them to iNavX software on iPhone, or vice versa. “The Canadian Hydrographic Service Digital Charts are an exceptional addition to the Fugawi X-Traverse online mapping collection,” said Robin Martel, president of Northport Systems. “Our inclusion of Canadian charts illustrates our commitment to ensuring X-Traverse customers have easy access to an extensive library of up-to-date and inexpensive charting data for their mobile phones and desktops – anywhere and anytime.” Canadian Hydrographic Service Digital Charts are available through X-Traverse and bundled into traditional geographic regions. Subscriptions to the digital charts are sold to consumers in single user licenses and include two activations – one for a primary system and one for a backup system. Users may select their primary and secondary systems from any of X-Traverse’s compatible applications which include iNavX, Fugawi Global Navigator, Fugawi Marine ENC, GPSNavX and MacENC, (all of which are sold separately). Canadian
Hydrographic Service Digital Charts will be available for subscription
from X-Traverse before the end of May. Northport expects to announce
additional supported cartography as well as compatibility of X-Traverse
charts with more software and mobile products in the coming months.
