| How
it works:
The workflow
for creating locked FX4 maps for resale to your customers is as
follows:
1. Create the
source map and import into Fugawi:
Import
a Fugawi supported raster map format into Fugawi Global Navigator
(such as GeoTiff, JPG + TFW, JPG + JPR, TIFF + TFW, USGS DRG,
ADRG (Military
version only), CADRG
(Military version only),
CIB
(Military version only),
OR
Calibrate
(Georeference) a digital image (such as a map drawn in a graphics
arts package or a scanned paper map in bmp, gif, jpg, png, pcx,
or tif format) using Fugawi Calibrate, a program included with
Fugawi Global Navigator.
(must know the map datum and coordinates for three points on the
map or have a prepared JPR
file)
2. Export the
map as a Fugawi FX4 file:
Open the Map
in Fugawi (Maps|Open Map), then export it as a Fugawi
FX4 file (Maps|Map Tools|Export Map).
3. Set the map
restrictions:
Use the FX4
Locker program to set the map restrictions, add you copyright
statements, etc.
4. Lock the
map to individual users:
When you sell
a map, you will need to retrieve the Fugawi Product Key
from your customer. The Product Key is an 8 digit alpha-numeric
code that is unique to every installation of Fugawi. Your customer
can find the Product Key from Fugawi in Help|About.
Start the
FX4 Locker program in Sales Mode and type in the customer's
Product Key, and then save the locked map with a different name.
5. Send the
Locked map to you customer:
Ship your
customer the locked map (produced in Step 4) by email, disk, or
web download. This map will only work for your individual customer's
specific license of Fugawi. Your customer must be using Fugawi
Global Navigator or Fugawi Marine ENC Ver. 4.5.13 or later.
Steps 1-3 are
usually performed ahead of time. Steps 4 and 5 are performed every
time you receive a customer order for a map.
