Problem:
If a USB to Serial cable and GPS are connected to the PC after Windows
and Fugawi are started, the PORT settings must be changed from NONE
to the appropriate com-port (from GPS|Settings|Change Port.
If a USB to
Serial cable it is connected prior to Windows and Fugawi being started,
the cursor on the screen map 'jump' over and may not be controllable.
Solution:
A Serial to USB converter communicates by setting up a virtual serial
port which Windows does not recognize unless the Serial to USB cable
is connected after Windows has been started. Therefore, Fugawi does
not recognize the port - thereby resetting back to None.
When the GPS
is turned on and the cable connected when starting Windows - Windows
thinks that the GPS is a mouse and does not know what to do with
the GPS data - thereby making the cursor jump everywhere.
The best order
to start Fugawi is the following:
1. Connect the
Serial to USB cable with the GPS connected, but turned OFF.
2. Start Windows.
3. Start Fugawi.
