The Fugawi
ADRG Viewer is licensed without charge to examine
ADRG maps.
The Fugawi ADRG
Viewer can be copied without charge only as the self-extracting
file fugadrg.exe
and is not to be sold. The commercial Fugawi
Global Navigator Military Version
is available at an affordable price for those
who want to navigate with a GPS receiver on ADRG maps. Fugawi Global
Navigator Military Version supports most raster images and popular
digital formats such as BSB (nautical charts), DRG (USGS topographical
maps) as well as ADRG, CADRG and CIB and many other formats.
Technical
Information:
This viewer
has been tested with the ADRG CDs currently licensed by Natural
Resources Canada. It does not necessarily support all ADRGs.
ADRG maps are
very large (300mb or more) and are not compressed. The speed of
loading and moving within a map will be dictated by the speed of
your CD reader or hard drive.
This format
will give slower performance compared to other formats supported
by Fugawi software products.
An advantage of the ADRG format is that a single image frequently
includes multiple paper charts that have been stitched together
to form a single ADRG image.
The ADRG images contain 24-bit color so you will get the most attractive
images if your system is set up for 16 bit or 24 bit color.
Note that ADRG maps are not the same as USGS DRG maps. The current
version of Fugawi Global Navigator and Fugawi Global Navigator Military
Version supports DRG format maps
